Just 8km from Townsville within the UNESCO Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area in tropical North Queensland, you’ll find Magnetic Island - a very beautiful and special place, and a 'must do' on your bucket list trips. Break free from the resort-style holiday and discover the natural beauty and unique landscape of what we call 'Maggie'. Most of the Island’s 5,184ha land area is protected - 78% is national or conservation park. With stunning beaches and bays, a wide array of wildlife, and a small and friendly residential population of over 2,300, you'll find you'll nestle into the island lifestyle in no time!
Magnetic Island is a nature lovers paradise just 20 minutes boat trip from Townsville, North Queensland. We might be biased, but we think we’ve got it all: 23 bays and beaches, kilometres of bushland hikes, the largest colony of koalas in Northern Australia, fringing coral reefs, world-winning tour operators, an emerging foodie scene, spectacular natural surrounds, and 320 days of sunshine each year.
There are two companies that run ferry transfers to the island. Sealink & Magnetic Island ferries.
Sealink is a passenger ferry that runs up to 17 daily return services.
Magnetic Island Ferries is a car and passenger service.
Both companies have arrival/departure points in Nelly Bay Marina Magnetic island, right next-door to where we keep our Aquascene vessels! So yes, you can still do an Aquascene tour if you are not staying on Magnetic Island! You will need to be on the 7.45 am Sealink ferry leaving TSV at the latest, in time for our 8.15 tour meeting time.
Where to meet Aquascene?
Meet us in front of Peppers Resort Restaurant (Nelly Bay) on the boardwalk area, a short 30 second stroll to the left of the Nelly Bay ferry terminal. You will see our Aquascene A-Frame signs located on the far corner of the boardwalk area and our friendly Aquascene crew will meet you there and escort you to our boat ready to start your day of adventure.
Our Aquascene Office is located just across the road from the Nelly Bay Ferry Terminal, a 2 minute walk from our tour meeting point. Feel free to come by to book a tour, ask questions, or familiarise yourself with some of our friendly local staff.
